DirecTV Now Review

When it comes to streaming DirecTV NOW leans more towards a large entertainment selection than an extensive sports selection.

For its basic $35 package you get access to 12 channels that play sports.  Only 4 of those (ESPN, ESPN2, NBCSN, and Fox Sports Network) are completely dedicated to sports.  By upgrading packages you can get access to even more sports dedicated channels like the Tennis Channel, MLB channel, NHL Channel, NBC golf, NBA TV, and Big Ten Network to name a few.

While you will have coverage of most of the big games there are some important channels missing like the NFL network, beIN sports, and the stadium channel.

By Sport

Soccer - If you are a fan of any European leagues then DirecTV might not be best for you.  They leave out the 10 channels of beIN network as well as GOLTV and various Spanish and Portuguese channels.

Football - You get access to ESPN, CBS, NBC, and FOX and most of their sister channels.  This will have you covered for almost ever college and nfl game.  The only thing missing is the NFL channel, NFL Red Zone, and perhaps the Stadium channel network.

Basketball - With the $50 package you will have NBA TV, ESPN, TNT, and ABC.  These channels will give you access to a total of 178 regular season games.  When the playoffs come in April you will be able to watch every game.

The only package that has more games is the SlingTV NBA League Pass, which has 30 extra basketball channels.  This is perfect if you are living away from your team's home town, or if you are a super fan.  The price is $49 and includes less entertainment channels than DirecTV now.

MMA - To watch UFC you will want access to FS1 and FS2 (formerly FUSE TV).  This will get you access to all the UFC fight nights and other shows like The Ultimate Fighter.  DirecTV NOW comes with FS1 for $35 but requires an upgrade to its $60 package to get FS2.   For even more UFC events you need to grab access to the UFC Fight Pass.

The exciting new Professional Fighters League (PFL) is available to watch on NBSCN, available on the DTV NOW $35 package.  This league is structured with seasons, playoffs, and an final that awards a $10 million prize to the winner.  Its also available to stream for free on Facebook Live.
